About Our Program

The award-winning department of Educational Administration at Heritage University offers multiple programs; a one-year online Principal Certificate Program, a two-year online Masters in Educational Administration, a two-year online Masters with Principal Certificate, and a Principal Certificate specifically designed for aspiring or current Special Education Directors – the only program of its kind in Washington!

  Eligibility for Principal Certificate

  • • A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
    • A valid teaching or ESA certificate
    • Currently employed in a K-12 setting in Washington State
    • A minimum of 3 years of K-12 educational experience

    Application Requirements for Principal Certification

    Please be prepared to submit the following documents with your application.

    • • Copy of your teaching or ESA certificate from Washington State
      • Copy of your resume or CV outlining experiences with leadership, volunteering, and professional development opportunities.
      • Official transcripts from the institution who conferred your bachelor’s and master’s degree.
      • State Prerequisite Form required by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. You can find the state’s form here. Your superintendent or personnel officer of your district must sign the form.
      • Letter from your district, signed by a district representation, granting you permission to complete your 540-hours of internship with them.
      • Two (2) letters of recommendations. One from a current supervisor and the other from a professional colleague.
      • Written Statement of 300 words on why you would like to become a school administrator.
      • Abuse Course Completion evidence – this is the required annual Child Protection reporting requirements for school districts employees
