Weaver Lake is in western Maple Grove with public access located off County Road 101 and operated by the City of Maple Grove. The lake is 152.09 acres with an average depth of 20.7 feet and a maximum depth of 57 feet. Weaver Lake has good water quality with numerous water quality improvement projects implemented by the city and lake association to keep the water quality strong. While water quality in Weaver Lake is good, it will vary based on precipitation, temperature, and other conditions. Five-year trends indicate Weaver Lake continues to meet water quality parameters for total phosphorus, chlorophyll A, and secchi depth.

Weaver Lake water quality improvement projects

City funding for projects is through a storm water utility fee, which is used to manage stormwater runoff from rain and snowmelt. The fee is a $4.50/month charge on each single-family residence utility bill regardless of property location. Commercial properties also pay a fee based on impervious surface coverage. Projects include:

Navigation access channels

Some channels on Weaver Lake have been dredged for navigation and lake access for adjacent properties. The DNR has jurisdiction for the dredging activity as Fish Lake is a state public water. Going back 60 years, the DNR authorized permits for dredging navigation channels for access and extended that to future adjacent owners with all ongoing maintenance the responsibility of those property owners. Where there is city storm sewer discharging into a channel, the city has offered $5,000 per outfall (subject to City Council approval) to assist residents on channels with their private efforts.
